Overview

  • Phocea massiliensis is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 3 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. Phocea massiliensis is probably a common, although minor, coloniser of the gut. (Ndongo2016d)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces (Bilen2018e) and brain abscess. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • In 61% of Europeans (unseenbio.com). Minor coloniser.
