Overview

  • Porphyromonas crevioricanis, (aka Porphyromonas cansulci), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, non-motile, short rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 44-45.9%. Porphyromonas crevioricanis is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Hirasawa1994; Sakamoto2013)

  • The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 2, i.e., risk of individual infection, but low risk of spread (notes: animal pathogen). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.
