Overview

  • Pseudomonas luteola, (aka Chryseomonas luteola), is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly aerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 54.6%. Pseudomonas luteola is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Kodama1985; Palleroni2005bBergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces and clinical sources (wound, cerebrospinal fluid - CCUG). The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 2, i.e., risk of individual infection, but low risk of spread. Could be a possible pathogen in humans, but unknown at this stage. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Obligate aerobe; unlikely to be a gut coloniser.
