Overview

  • Pseudomonas monteilii is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, aerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 60.5%. Pseudomonas monteilii is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Elomari1997; Palleroni2005bBergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from clinical sources (bronchial aspirate - CCUG) and human faeces. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread (notes: opportunistic in immunocompromised patients). Is a rare opportunistic pathogen. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.
