Overview

  • Psychrobacter pulmonis is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly aerobic, non-motile, coccus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. Psychrobacter pulmonis is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Deschaght2012; Vela2003a)

  • This organism has been recovered from lungs of lambs. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 2, i.e., risk of individual infection, but low risk of spread (notes: animal pathogen). Could be a possible pathogen in humans, but unknown at this stage. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Obligate aerobe; unlikely to be a gut coloniser.
