Overview

  • Sellimonas intestinalis is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, motile, diplococci bacterium. It has been detected in at least 4 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 45.3%. Sellimonas intestinalis is probably a common, although minor, coloniser of the gut. (Seo2016)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces (Seo2016). Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • In 44% of Europeans (unseenbio.com). Minor coloniser.
