Overview

  • Sporobacter termitidis is a Gram-positive, spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped - curved bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 57%. Sporobacter termitidis is probably a rare gut coloniser. (GrechMora1996)

  • This organism has been recovered from termite gut and detected in human faeces. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Produces methanethiol.
