Overview

  • Stenotrophomonas acidaminiphila is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly aerobic, motile, rod-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 66.9%. Stenotrophomonas acidaminiphila is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Assih2002)

  • This organism has been recovered from sludge reactor, clinical sources (trachea, urine, blood - CCUG) and detected in human faeces (Bilen2018e). The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread. It is an opportunistic pathogen. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.
