Overview

  • Streptococcus merionis is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, coccus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. Streptococcus merionis is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Tappe2009)

  • This organism has been recovered from the oropharynge of a Mongolian jird. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
