Overview

  • Streptococcus plurextorum is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, coccus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. The DNA G+C content is 42.1%. Streptococcus plurextorum is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Vela2009)

  • This organism has been recovered from pigs with pneumonia. Could be a possible pathogen in humans, but unknown at this stage. A possible gut commensal.
