Overview

  • Succinivibrio dextrinosolvens is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, motile, helical-shaped bacterium. It has been detected in at least 4 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 39-44%. Succinivibrio dextrinosolvens is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Bryant1956; Hippe1999; Morotomi2010; Bryant2005Bergey)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces , cattle rumen, and clinical sources. The risk classification (www.baua.de) for this organism is 1, i.e., low risk of infection and spread (notes: opportunistic in immunocompromised patients). Could be a possible pathogen in humans, but unknown at this stage. A possible gut commensal.
