Overview

  • Symbiobacterium toebii is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, microaerophilic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium. The DNA G+C content is 65%. Symbiobacterium toebii is likely to be transient and not a long-term gut coloniser. (Rhee2002; Sung2003)

  • This organism has been recovered from farmland compost, Korea. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. Likely to be transient and not a long-term gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • A high minimum growth temperature (45C) suggests this is an unlikely gut coloniser. Symbiotic (obligate commensal) with Geobacillus sp.
