Overview

  • Thermophilibacter mediterraneus, (aka Olsenella mediterranea), is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, strictly anaerobic, coccus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 1 gut microbiome compilation study or metastudy. Thermophilibacter mediterraneus is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Ricaboni2017a)

  • This organism has been recovered from the human colon. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
