  • Vagococcus penaei is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, coccus bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 35.4%. Vagococcus penaei is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Jaffres2010)



  • This organism has been recovered from microbiota of spoilt shrimp. Pathogenicity status unknown, or very unlikely to be pathogenic. A possible gut commensal.
