Overview

  • Vibrio metoecus is a Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, motile, rod-shaped - curved bacterium. It has been detected in at least 2 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 47.7%. Vibrio metoecus is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Kirchberger2014)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces, brackish ponds and clinical sources (blood). It is an opportunistic pathogen. A possible gut commensal.

  • QUIRKS
  • Close relative of V. cholerae.
