Overview

  • Winkia neuii, (aka Actinomyces neuii), is a Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, diphtheroidal bacterium. It has been detected in at least 3 gut microbiome compilation studies or metastudies. The DNA G+C content is 55-58%. Winkia neuii is probably a rare gut coloniser. (Funke1994)

  • This organism has been recovered from human faeces and clinical sources (blood, wound, abscess, vagina, urine - CCUG). It is an opportunistic pathogen. A possible gut commensal.
